Today I started working on my longboard again. I think that this it the first time this semester that I have even touched anything relating to longboard besides when I was supervising the group working on their cardboard longboards. Since I have already made a longboard beore, I got to immediately go to making a wooden longboard instead of making a cardboard one first.
Today we worked on longboards some more. I finished cutting out the template, and even had the time to laminate it with a bunch more packing tape. Hopefully this one lasts a lot longer than my previous longboard template.
Today most of the class had a Wednesday Challenge where the goal was to make a boat out of a sheet of graph apper that would float for 5 minutes while carrying the heaviest payload possible. I wasn't a part of this Wednesday Challenge because I was helping Keilah with his project.
After nearly a month of no resposnse from Mrs. Martos, Connor, Erin, Keilah and I have concluded that our storage area idea has been cancelled, which really sucks because we were planning on this being our big senior/junior collab project of the year. As such, we startted discussing ideas for our longboards. Since Keilah and I have already made longboards before, we wanted to make this years' ones special, and as such, I decided that I would make mine either fold in half, strap or mount onto a backpack or a belt harness thing, or both. Keialh wanted to make his into something like a luge, where the rider is meant to sit down on the board and turn by leaning over to the side.
Today I worked with Sam to cut some plywood for my board. Afterwards, I had to decide what kind of press I was going to use, but because there were so many different ones and I had to figure out how the shape of the board would interact with the hinges and such, Dr. Neato let me think it over the weekend.
